Bathrooms range in size from very small to extremely large. While some homeowners in Bethesda, MD have the luxury of having a bathroom with lots of square footage, there are many who have very tiny bathrooms. If you’re in the latter category and are contemplating a bathroom home painting project, you’ll want to be careful about the color you choose. My painters have compiled a few tips for painting small bathrooms.
White Out Your Walls
White is an extremely common color choice for painting small spaces – and for good reason. It’s classic, neutral, and can help add the illusion of light to your bathroom, making it feel larger and more open. If you don’t like stark white, don’t worry; there are many other types of white to choose from, with yellow, pink, or peach undertones. Who knew there were so many shades of white?
Go Pale
Pale colors are perfect for small bathrooms. My painters like to use cool grays or blues, or warm pink or yellow for bathrooms. The pale shades make the room feel spacious while offering a calming, serene effect to the overall room.
Match the Furniture
This may seem like a surprising tip, but painting the walls the same color as the primary furniture will make your bathroom feel much, much larger. Look at the color of your the sink cabinet, a stool, or the vanity. Pull inspiration from those colors – matching the dominant color feature will do your bathroom a whole lot of good.
Check Out Samples
Even if you’re absolutely sure on your color choice, you should test samples in your bathroom before delving into a big home painting project. Most painting stores will give you a sample of several colors for a small fee, and you can test them out on your bathroom’s walls. You may discover you want a white with more yellow, or the pale pink is too powdery. In the long run, testing your colors will save you time and money.
